Body Donation Process
Friday, August 29th, 2008It does help to understand exactly what it takes to join a willed body program. It is actually a very easy process. The simplest way is to tell your next of kin that you wish to have your body donated. They can call a local medical research center to make the arrangements upon your death. That isn’t the most surefire way of achieving it though. If you really want to donate your body, you should make the arrangements ahead of time. You merely need to find a nearby medical center and inform them of your request. They’ll have you sign a paper and will usually give you a body donation card to make sure that your wishes aren’t forgotten. You should obviously explain your desire to your next of kin, any immediate family, and your attorney. This just cuts down on any confusion surrounding your death. Unnecessary delays can limit your usefulness in their program. If you also wish to be an organ donor, you should declare this with the willed body program ahead of time, so that they may work around your wishes.
